Should you rent or flip in Southwest Florida?
The decision to rent or flip is one that has to be determined based on what your aspirations are when it comes to the housing market. In real estate there are two main types of investors. These are well known to Fort Myers property management. There are those investors who are not interested in remaining in the housing market for long term periods, and then there are those who are interested in earning a stable cash flow from the market and are therefore more interested in a long term commitment.
Whether to rent or flip in the current Southwest housing market is a decision that has to be based on your skills as an investor. As prices increase year over year, it can be tempting for persons to buy a home, refurbish it, and then sell it back for more (also known as flipping). This is especially appealing since median home sales have been and continue to be on the rise in the region. To successfully do this however, a person has to have knowledge of the market, and know how and where to find good deals. On the other hand, renting can seem to be more advantageous than flipping because it provides you with a steady stream of income as your home appreciates year after year.
